KIST Medical College, Nepal

KIST Medical College (KISTMC) is a Tribhuvan University affiliated medical college situated in the Kathmandu Valley.The medical college was established in 2006. The College is facilitated with a 300 bedded hospital and all other advanced infrastructure. The lecture hall, clinical examination rooms, classrooms and laboratories are established by following the Nepal medical council’s regulations and standards. National and international students are being attracted to the KIST Medical college because of its quality and scenic beauty. The entire beauty of Kadmandu is able to aspire from the college location, and it is the center for relaxation as well.

KIST Medical College (KISTMC) aims at  providing opportunity to all the students for their intellectual, spiritual, social and physical integration  so that they will be able to successfully face the emerging challenges through their changed career prospects.Most of the courses are having access to the yoga classes with an aim to develop the pupil as the overall developed individuals with self consciousness and awareness.

The KIST Medical College

The KIST Medical College (KISTMC) Hospital and the Academic Block are situated in Imadol, a place addressed as visited by Emperor Asoka. Asoka Stupas are still visible in many places as the living memorial for his visits.  The historic Patan Durbar square is around 3 Km from the medical college and the college is around 6 km. away from the Tribhuvan International Airport – the only international airport of the country.
Canteen
Canteen facility is arranged in the ground floor of the IBMS Block.
College library
All the essential textbooks and CD Roms are well arranged in the library with an ease of access to all the students in the college. More than 3000 text books, reference books and other general  books are available in the college library. National and international journals are another attraction in the library.
Infrastructure
Community-based learning.
Its another feature of the college where the students and the faculty are exposed to the community and the society for their learning purpose. The main intention behind this CBL is to provide more realistic experience to the new emerging doctors.
The OPD and Administrative Block
The ground floor of the hospital is equipped with various out patient departments (OPDs) and the first floor houses the Pediatrics ward with the NICU, PICU and the Blood Bank. The third floor of the building is for student classrooms.

Affiliation

The college is affiliated to the Tribhuvan University (TU), Institute of Medicine (IOM) for the MBBS Course from the year 2008.   MBBS degree of IOM is recognized by the Medical Council of all the SAARC countries, GMC and  USA.

Eligibility requirements for the MBBS course
To be eligible the candidate must have completed 17 years of age and 10+2 years of education with intermediate science or equivalent  with an aggregate of 50% marks in English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

FEES:
The Nepalese student  selected by Ministry of Education & Sports (MOES),  are exempted from tuition fees. The fees for students from Nepal, those who have joined as self financing students, they have to pay (Nrs.)30 lac . as tuition fees.And they should pay the Examination fees as an additional depending on the university norms.

The tuition fee for the SAARC and Non resident Nepalese(NRN) students is Nrs. 50 lac (US $ 70,000)And the Tuition fee for International students outside SAARC is Nrs. 75 lac which is around US$ 1,00,000.
The fees can be paid through  Demand Draft or wire transfer drawn in favor of KIST Medical College, Imadol, Kathmandu.
